HOUR ONE PLAY HARD:   Jason Spiess and Shawn Forbes are joined by Ken Hall, Chairman of the Board, Missouri River Resources at the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference in Bismarck, ND.

Ken discusses the importance of the oil and gas industry to the MHA Nation and the Three Affiliated Tribes. Missouri River Resources has a goal of operating at company with 100% Native American employees from the chemist to the geologists to the secretary to the middle managers.

The three talk about how difficult it is for a Native American run company to compete against private industry. For example, in 2012, Missouri River Resources had to complete a 49 step process to get a permit to drill, often times taking nearly a year. On a piece of private land, it took 4 steps and 3 days. Ken talks about the transition to a streamline permitting system with an office headquartered in Denver, Colorado.

Missouri River Resources is a Tribally-chartered energy company, dedicated to developing oil and gas resources for the benefit of the Three Affiliated Tribes membership, committed to superior financial and professional performance, promoting environmental awareness and adhering to cultural and traditional values.

In HOUR TWO we WORK HARD with our Newsmaker Interview:  Stephen Heins, The Energy Pragmatist

(Interview from April 27) Jason Spiess and Sterling are joined by “Professor” Stephen Heins who was involved with the AOL/Time Warner Merger, the largest corporate merger in history.

The three discuss ESG (Environmental Social Governance) from a broad spectrum. Stephen anoints himself the “Doubting Thomas” of ESG.

From there, the three discuss how the movement is used, and can be used further, to control, tax and regulate all aspects of life. Jason asks Stephen his views on Climate Envoy John Kerry and Climate Czar Gina McCarthy.

Stephen reminds that on programs like The Crude Life, he and others have been warning the industry on record for years regarding the increasingly alarming behaviors from Gina McCarthy.

Out of touch administrations and “Velvet Glove” leaders are also bantered about in the Play Hard segment.

Jason asks if Sterling or Stephen see the ESG as another Dot Com Boom Bust Bubble. Some will make money and some will go bankrupt. This vein of conversation veered back to the AOL/Time Warner merger and some of the growing pains learned in business.

The comparison of the Government Backed Telco industry trying to hold back and/or compete with the upstart Cable Companies who were primarily using their own technology and money.

George Bush Sr’s magical milk money, SEC’s role in ESG, the “naughty document” and questioning the strategy of how oil companies are continuing to fund the same people who got them into the mess they are currently in. A ten year body of work involving public relations, regulatory battles and industrial image are drivers and examples of those conversations.

Dr. Scott challenges the idea that Electric Vehicles will be mainstream by 2030.
