Did you Know March 17 is World Shale Energy Day?

HOUR ONE PLAY HARD:  Jason Spiess is joined by Shawn ForbesOG Directory and Team Forbes, live from the Permian Basin Association of Pipeliners Annual Cookoff in Odessa, Texas.

Guest interview during the Play Hard portion of the Morning Show are Dee Meharg, Alpha Industrial Construction and Derrick Clark, Epic Site Solution and Membership Chair for Permian Basin Association of Pipeliners.

Dee shares some stories of working the well site in North Dakota in the cold winters as well as working in the Texas heat.

The three talk about the sacrifices involved in the oil and gas industry. From being away from the families to driving on the dangerous roads to taking less money with more work.

Jason explains why he is a big advocate for firefighters in America.

“I do not understand how 85% of our firefighters are volunteer in America and we are sending billions and trillions of dollars overseas. Not to get political here, but if oil and gas didn’t donate money and jaws of life to local fire departments, they wouldn’t have anything. The governments should really understand their emergency service priorities in America before special projects overseas.” – Jason Spiess

Derrick gives a run down of the BBQ Bravado and Awards from the Permian Basin Association of Pipeliners Annual Cookoff. Derrick and Shawn dive into some of the unique services like lighting, rig mats and heavy pipe used in the oil and gas industry.

In HOUR TWO we WORK HARD with our Newsmaker Interview: Michael (Caleb) Amick

Amick is a reporter for The Dickinson Press, however, in this interview he is representing himself. The interview surrounding his recent article on Salt Water Spills in North Dakota and attorney Fintan Dooley’s presentation at Dickinson State University.

In a presentation to Professor Toby Stroh’s reclamation class at Dickinson State University on March 2, attorney Fintan Dooley said that state laws in North Dakota require oil companies to not only haul away their equipment, but restore the site to its original state. Dooley alleges that this hasn’t been properly done for decades as a direct result of improper enforcement of the law —a failure Dooley attributed to corruption but did not offer any direct evidence of.

The North Dakota Industrial Commission, Dooley alleged, has allowed oil companies to hold off on cleaning up and restoring contaminated land and only to later file bankruptcy or “walk off,” with the expectation being that the land being reclaimed will be covered at the expense of the people of North Dakota. Click here for the entire article
