The Crude Life Week In Review Episode 556 is currently airing across a 5-state radio network. Here are the industry experts, community leaders and special guests for The Crude Life Week In Review Episode 556:

WOMEN IN ENERGY: Kelly Marshall gives an update from Colorado and their Energy Day at the Capitol.

Representatives of Colorado’s oil and gas industry, along with hundreds of supporters, gathered on the west steps of the state Capitol on Wednesday for a rally opposing a proposal to ban all new oil and gas drilling by 2030.

“Well, they started across the street and we were politely asked to leave that venue because the group was a little too boisterous for that closed area,” Marshall said. “So we went across the street to the Capitol steps.”

She explained that leadership members Dan Haley, Colorado Oil and Gas Association president and CEO, Kim McHugh, COGA board chair and vice president of the Chevron Corp. Rockies Business Unit, and Kait Schwartz, the American Petroleum Institute Colorado director made speeches to the crowd.

“Colorado Oil and Gas Association is the one who put the day together and Dan Haley spoke very eloquently about the issues and was incredibly thankful for the 200 plus people that showed up to support not pushing through this legislation,” Marshall said. “They got the mic up and working and everyone stood and listened to the facts about the bill, the bills that are under review and about the vote and Dan was incredibly thankful for everyone that came out and showed up.”

SPECIAL FEATUREClint Kling of Shepherd VR joins Jason Spiess to talk about the rise of virtual reality training and technology. The interview starts off with a discussion on how Toyota and several police departments are integrating VR Training into their HR, safety and overall culture.

“I mean a lot of my university research was based on assessing effectiveness in training just because everybody said VR was better,” Kling said. “Nobody really had any hard data. I spent a year and a half or so setting up experiments and running them and basically showcasing what is effective training and as far as VR goes, what’s effective training as far as our traditional methods go. So VR definitely has taken leaps and bounds on the effectiveness of the training.”

INDUSTRY EXPERT:Mark WorkmanRMI Supply, gives an update from the supply chain logistical point of view as well as an update on his observations in the market.

Folding in several past weeks of The Crude Life updates, there is an amount of uncertainty coming from leadership, the media and politicians regarding oil and gas. This organically created a conversation involving the realities of trust and integrity in the marketplace.

“You need to be able to call your customer within 30 seconds and finding that information out and telling the truth,” Workman said. “A lot of logistics is based on the idea of being truthful and then you know quick with your responses and literally that’s how i’ve ever established my business or grown this oil field side of the business since 2009.”

EXTENDING ENERGY:  The Crude Life founder Jason Spiess joins KLXX-SuperTalk 1270AM’s Talk of the Town with Steve Bakken for Wattage Wednesday to discuss the Bakken’s recent dip in production.

The two question whether the temperature really played as big as a role in past years considering this year was one of the warmest winters on record.

The Crude Life sponsors every Wednesday’s Talk of the Town to ensure energy related topics are discussed within the Bakken communities.

Wattage Wednesday interviews air on TownSquare Media’s KLXX SuperTalk 1270AM from 9-11AM Central Time.

MARCH MADNESS:  Joe SinnottWitting Partners and the host of The Energy Detox Podcast joins The Crude Life to discuss how March Madness coaching is like managing a business.

The interview starts off with a discussion of how the overall culture in business has changed. In sports the comparison is made with the NIL (Name Image Likeness) and how college athletes are more of a business person than athlete.

The comparison to “side hustles” while at work is made during this thread of the interview.

Nick Sabin from Alabama recently cited this issue as a reason for retiring from coaching. Catlin Clark’s debates about whether going pro is a pay cut or not from college is also discussed in detail.

The interview next tackles the “One and Done” colleges like Rick Pitino and John Calipari are known for. The professional comparison is made how statistics show that professionals who work 8 jobs in 10 years make 40% more than a person who stays with the same employer for 10 years.
