Trent Korby, Owner/CEO, Korwell Energy Services,  joins Jason Spiess to talk about their company’s journey, which has been a roller coaster of dedicating full time, part time and full time once again of personal and professional time allocation.

Korby gives an overview of their services as well. Korwell Energy is an industry designer, ASME code manufacturer, and remanufacturer of production equipment for oil and gas producers, throughout the Rocky Mountain Region.

Korwell Energy retains both an ASME U and R stamp and have a 28,000 sq ft of manufacturing shop with overhead cranes. We put a team together and collectively have over 75+ years of experience in manufacturing of ASME Oil and Gas production equipment.

“At Korwell we pride ourselves with outstanding customer service, expertise, and cutting-edge technology to partner with our customers to maximize their individual production goals and help comply with ever changing regulations,” Korwell said. “We’ve been extremely blessed these past couple of years and its helped us grow our business into a stable company that created honest jobs and work.”

Being blessed, hard work and faith in industry were themes throughout the interview.

The interview transitioned into one area the industry has fallen behind over the past decade – public relations.  Korby believes more companies need to step up their support for non traditional areas of contact.  Everything from College Bowl Games, public meetings and local elections are discussed in the world of public relations.

“We need more folks who are not just heads of the organizations (to step up) because of the stereotype of ‘there just out to profit and don’t really care they’re just lip service’,” Korby said. “We need our employees and the thousands and thousands of oil and gas workers to be proud about what they do and share their stories with their families, friends and grassroots educate because a lot of times what tends to happen is you are never going to change the mind of the 10-15% of the people who are just hating life and that their minds are already made up on oil and gas. But if we can change the middle 30-40% of the people that are kind of on the fence, open minded and to investigate information for themselves rather than just taken in the propaganda. Those are the people we can make a difference with.”

That propaganda talk continued into activism ideas for the industry.  Korby talked about industry events, regulations and the need to promote outside the norm.  Spiess layered in examples of civility where The Crude Life’s grassroots approach often gets them invited to parades, schools and events despite their aggressive fossil fuel name.

Korby concludes the interview with circling back to being blessed.  You can truly hear the sincerity in his voice as he continues honest work accompanied with long days.

“For me personally, I’m just looking to make friends, have fun and look for ways to help people and we all win,” Korby said. “Whether that is a small benefit of monetarily to keep this thing going or it’s that I helped you solve a problem and your operation is better now and whether you do business with me or not, I’m always here to help and give.”
