Year In Review 2020: Global Energy Market May Be Defined In Texas

It’s time once again for our Annual Year In Review interviews! Last April 2020, James Coleman, Associate Professor at Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, gives an update from the Texas Railroad Commission meeting April 14, 2020.

“…now for the first time in half a century the U.S. is again the world’s premier energy superpower and the question is should we rediscover some of those tools that we used before that helped us manage that oil and gas market. So I think you know although it does sound what I would say that Texans, you know Texans love the free market, but you know what Texans love even better than the free market? Something that works. Texans are not ideologues.”

Coleman explains some of the bigger picture items they are talking about from OPEC to production cuts to emission management to what the silver lining is in all this chaos.

The interview also discusses price fixing and OPEC manipulation, cutbacks to increase and whether your enemy of your enemy is your friend.

Coleman concludes the interview by giving his personal views on the oil cut theory in Texas.
