Tiffany Steiner, API Dickinson, gives an overview of the Bakken BBQ history and preview of 2020’s theme. The bulk of the interview is devoted to the 23rd Annual API Gumbo Cookoff.

Daniel Stenberg, McKenzie County Job Development Authority, gives an update from the heart of the Bakken – Watford City and McKenzie County. Stenberg shares information on several grant and loan programs the city, county and state are offering for building opportunities and quality of life developments.

Jodi Smith, North Dakota Land Commissioner, gives an update on the natural gas royalty payments in that companies will have to make a “good faith effort” to contact and begin working with the department on repayment within the 90 days. The deadline for the companies to pay back the money and avoid additional costs could then be extended on a case-by-case basis.

Josh Swanson, Vogel Law, gives an update on the Wilkinson vs. Board of University and School Lands involving mineral rights and payments in the Bakken and Lake Sakakawea. Swanson reiterates how the mineral owners have won court cases in the past, yet the state continues to appeal and argue.
