Tom Shepstone, NaturalGasNow.org, gives an update from the East Coast shale plays, including the Marcellus.
Shepstone, geographically located near the border of New York, describes the increasing issues with East Coast energy, from Pennsylvania gas to pipeline purchases to New York’s outright bans. The interviews dives into natural gas and the opportunities that continue for the betterment of humanity and progress of industry.
The underground economic value is also discussed. Shepstone details some of the economic opportunities and anomalies with lateral drilling. His site recently reported the completion of a 3.8 mile lateral and how that impacts the local supply chains.
The interview also asks the question of whether 2021 will be “Defined by Defection”. Meaning, with all the layoffs and the continued acceptance of publicly shaming oil and gas workers, will former employees continue to support or stand up for the industry?
Shepstone also comments on the increasing pressures applied by climate activists into the public domain. However, he beleives that most leadership will speak exaggerated promises and false claims in order to look good and appease voters, however most will crumble like President-elect Joe Biden.
When Biden was pressed to make an absolute statement on the record, he recanted his earlier aggressive language to more of an idea or goal open for discussion. Biden understood how difficult it would be for a society to transition off fossils fuels.
