Terry Etam, energy writer, BOE Report and author of The End of Fossil Fuel Insanity, talks about the religion of environmentalism and some of the tactics used by extremists. He explains the theme of his book and how the environmental movement is causing more harm to the planet than they are intending.

The conversation veers into potential solutions and entry-level ideas about plastic reduction in soda bottles, grocery bags and six-pack holders, rather than the idiocy of eliminating fossil fuels altogether. Both host Jason Spiess and special guest Etam explain why people who use that as their argumentative goal are not having an entry-level intelligent conversation. From electric vehicles to lithium mining, Etam challenges multiple ideas from environmentalist, including examples of how those ideas continue to decimate the planet. Etam cites the example of an iPhone containing 78 elements from the periodic table.

Wind, solar and coal are also discussed and how their innovation is contributing to the energy portfolio. Other examples of energy innovation are discussed as well.

The interview also revisits a story from last fall involving a potential natural gas shortage. Despite an abundance of natural gas being mined, so much there are flares happening all over Shale Play USA. Both Spiess and Etam cite numerous example sof pipelines, processing plants, value-added innovation and other solutions the oil and gas industry are working on.

After listing a number of technological advancements in clean energy innovation, like the new Davis Refinery, Spiess pontificated if he should become the “Environmental Champion for the Planet” or “The Earth’s Champion” with a WWE-style belt, made entirely out of petroleum products, and spread the innovation ideas around the planet, rather than demonizing the one industry trying to clean the planet. Etam agreed with Spiess and suggest he should take the next step to becoming the “Environmental Champion for the Planet”.
