Nick Burns, CEO, PetroFit, joins Jason Spiess and Steve Bakken on Town SquareMedia’s KLXX SuperTalk 1270AM’s Talk of the Town Wattage Wednesday, sponsored in part by The Crude Life.

The three discuss the growing health concerns being brought on by a myriad of issues.

From mobile lifestyles to carb country to apathy at the office, Burns said there are many reasons men are having heart attacks.

“It is specifically tailored for individuals working in the oil and gas industry. We understand the unique challenges that come with this line of work, such as long hours, irregular schedules, and physically demanding tasks. Our goal is to help our clients achieve optimal health and wellness, so they can perform their jobs safely and effectively.”

Nick’s Story About Oilfield Joe

He was only 40 years old….he wasn’t “supposed” to have a heart attack.

{This is a true story of a current client. Name is disclosed for privacy}

Joe was ending his shift on the rig for the day back in May when sweat began pouring down his face.

He said he felt like he had just run a marathon and started having chest pain.

His co-workers called the Field Superintendent quickly and who then began their protocol for onsite incidentals.

20 minutes later he’s in the emergency room in Hobbs, NM getting a stent put in.

Joe was 20-30lbs overweight but in his own words, he was “far from what I consider a heart attack at 40 years old fat.”

However he was constantly eating the unhealthy gas station burritos, pounding energy drinks all day with little to no water, and never got any sleep.

He always thought…

“I’ll start Monday.”
“I dont have the time.”
“It’s already December, I’ll start next year, new year new me.”

He would always put it off until the “right time” was available.

Unfortunately he came to realize over 3 years of putting it off that it never got less busy at home or at work.

In fact, over that time period his career had only grown and more responsibility and stress was now on his plate.

He was chasing the dollars and not how he showed up for himself or his family.

The most terrifying part about his heart attack..

Realizing how close he was to never seeing his 7-month old son or his 3 year old daughter grow up.

He was devastated thinking his kids may one day say…

“My dad died when I was a baby, I never knew him that well.”

Which is why I believe every parent needs to put their health first and career second.

And while this can happen at almost any age, there’s no reason not to make this a priority now.

We aren’t getting any younger and when you do decide to go “all in” it will be 10x harder.

As Joe said…

“Don’t wait until Monday, the new year, or until you’re naked sitting in the OR with a tube being fed through an artery in your groin to manually clear the 10 years of [crap] you’ve been eating out of your veins.”

Fortunately, Joe is still around and now made that change. He got a wakeup call.

Not everyone is so lucky. Not everyone gets a second chance.

For those wise enough to know something has to change NOW, we’re here to help.

Here to help you get (and stay) in the best shape of your life. Not just for you, but for your family who’s counting on you.
