Candidate Hatch Talks Oil, Gas, Solar and Agriculture For CO
/

Weld County Councilman At Large Elijah Hatch joins host Jason Spiess to discuss his recent announcement that he is running for an Weld County At-Large seat in Colorado.

Hatch explains how his background in technology, energy and agriculture have led him down a path towards humane and logical policies for the people of Weld County.  He also discusses how past mistakes and decisions by governments should not be ignored, but rather processed for learning.

The conversation dives into the current state of affairs in solar, wind and renewable policies.  Hatch, who owns a solar company, explains the relationship between coal, oil, gas and solar.   From coal being used in solar panels to natural gas charging EV stations to the lack of wind reclamation programs, the two run through a number of issues and examples facing the people of Weld County, Colorado and the United States.

“As the owner of several businesses, spanning many industries, I bring a unique perspective to Weld County government and hope to utilize this skillset to make Weld County even more pro-business. I know the value of a dollar and will protect your hard-earned money! Providing the residents of Weld County an elected official who listens and is always reachable was my promise in my last campaign and that same promise still holds true today. A government of the people, by the people, and for the people can only work when your elected representatives are responsive to the needs of their communities,” Hatch said. “I am not a normal politician! I do not even like being referred to as a “politician,” I am just a resident of this great county and I feel the need to stand up for my fellow citizens and protect what we have.”

Hatch has resided in Weld County for over 30 years. He moved to Weld County with his family at the age of nine as they slowly migrated from Florida. He attended grade/high school in Kersey, CO, graduating in 1998. After high school, he attended Aims Community College before entering the workforce. He spent the next 10 years working in the IT industry, building the first wireless ISP networks across Northern Colorado. From there he took over the family weed control business and spent the next several years developing it into a multi-million dollar corporation. In recent years, Elijah has started several other businesses ranging from toy development and production, to transportation and photovoltaic energy production.

Over the past several years Elijah has volunteered his time to Weld County averaging 500+ hours per year. As the current President of the Weld County Fair Board, Chairman of the Weld County Planning Commission and newly elected Councilman At Large for the Weld County Council, Elijah believes in giving back to his community. When he is not working or volunteering, Elijah spends his time with his wife and four children. They enjoy working on their ranch, training horses, and ice fishing.

Everyday your story is being told by someone. Who is telling your story? Who are you telling your story to?
