Tom Slocum joins Jason Spiess regarding his recent announcement running for Railroad Commission of Texas in 2022.  Slocum explains why he is running for office and how he would approach the position in a modern way.

Slocum talks about introducing Bitcoin to well sites, repealing the Flared Gas Tax, making the RCC more transparent and reinventing the Orphaned and Abandoned Well method.

“If elected to the Texas Railroad Commission, I will do everything possible to ensure our natural gas infrastructure, which provides us with the energy we need, becomes adequately protected from winter storms like we experienced this past February and remains adequately protected for future winter storms we are certain to experience in my lifetime.

There are obviously places for improvement and we have to do the best job we can for Texans in their time of need when energy demand skyrockets. We can’t let them down again. There’s no more room for excuses from anyone: ERCOT, RRC, or any elected official – if we experience another failure.

Texas’ population and energy demand gets larger everyday as new Texans arrive here to work or retire in the Lone Star State. It’s up to us to work together to develop a system capable of handling the new loads we will experience in peak demand.”

Currently, Wayne Christian holds the office and has been in office since November 2016.

The general election for the seat on the Texas Railroad Commission is on November 8, 2022. The primary is scheduled for March 1, 2022, and a primary runoff is scheduled for May 24, 2022. The filing deadline was December 13, 2021.
