K9 Pipe Inspections Locates Leak in West Texas

K9 Pipe Inspections worked on a 0.6 mile 4″ natural gas line located along the Texas/New Mexico border.

The line had been brought up to pressure several times prior to KPI’s arrival but the water from the leak was not surfacing. K9 Pipe Inspections dogs pinpointed the leak within 30 minutes.

The K9 Pipe Inspection team noticed that the location indicated by KPI dogs had an odor that was different from the company’s canine tracer odor. Upon discovering more information in relation to the line, we found that the line had trace amounts of corrosion inhibitor that changed the odor (to human noses). This posed no problem for KPI dogs and highlighted their ability to target individual odors amongst a cocktail of other products or scents.

K9 Pipe Inspections dogs showed, yet again, that they can save companies time and money with their highly accurate noses.
