Interview: Ben Hanson, Candidate for US House of Represenatives, North Dakota

In this exclusive interview with US House Candidate Ben Hanson, host Jason Spiess and Hanson discuss the a recent article in the Wall Street Journal pitting the Eastern side of North Dakota against the Western side, fighting for tax dollars from the state.

Hanson talks about his family and his roots to the Bakken, specifically Crosby, ND.  He also tells a story of the Casselton BNSF train derailment several years ago and how he has ties to the person who unhooked the train.

A large portion of the conversation was devoted to whether leadership should be reinvented in order to nip the “east versus west” angle in the bud.  Spiess opined about how it is time to end the “east versus west” fued and understand how connected the state is.  How rather than bickering, pointing fingers and playing politics, the state leaders should be connecting and educating.

Hanson discusses the state’s tax issues with the oil and gas counties, their lack of foresight and overall budget management.
