Weekly Bakken Get-Together: Season 1 Episode 6: ND Governor Doug Burgum

North Dakota Governor (left) begin interviewed by multimedia journalist Jason Spiess (right) in his Fargo office.

In this episode of The Weekly Bakken Get-Together, Jason Spiess sits down with North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum.

After a brief update on the Fargo-Moorhead Flood Project, the conversation is directed to oil and gas.  Specifically Gov. Burgum’s challenge to the oil and gas industry.  Burgum has four goals and visions in mind for the industry.

  1. Two-million-barrels-a-day in the Bakken
  2. Zero spills
  3. Develop a collaboration with coal
  4. Get to that next major step with natural gas gathering

After discussing those topics in detail, ranging from technology to the education system to the millennial workforce, Spiess asks Burgum if leadership needs to be reinvented.

Gov. Burgum believes now more than ever, a reinvention of leadership is needed.  He cites Higher Education as an example of something that needs to be reinvented because the world is getting information differently and communicating differently.

He also explains how the Main Street initiative encompasses many of those slices of change into a partial solution.
